Knowledge of Dual Beam and Single Beam headlight bulbs

When you are going to buy a headlight bulb online, you will always see a title containing a Hi-Lo beam or Dual beam, single beam? So does my car need a dual-beam or single beam?

Next, we will teach you how to distinguish dual beam and single beam from the bulb picture, and tell you how to choose them.

As far as these two concepts are concerned, dual-beam includes high beam and low beam light types; a single beam contains only one light type (high beam or high beam).

dual beam vs single beam

This is a comparison picture of Colight GT7 series dual beam and single beam chips. On the left is the dual-beam with two rows of chip queues. On the right is the single beam with only one row of chips.

So, what is the difference between the two in light type? Let's see below.

Dual Beam Headlight Bulbs: one bulb creates both high and low beam

Single Beam Headlight Bulbs: either high beam or low beam

This is a display picture of the actual installation of Colight GT7 series. The picture above is a dual beam GT7 bulb, which can emit a low beam with obvious cutting lines through the original car lens, or a bright and far high beam. The following picture shows two single beam GT7 bulbs. Due to the different positions, high beam and low beam are produced.

So, how to choose a dual-beam and single beam? Sorry, this cannot be decided by yourself, it is decided according to your model. Before buying, be sure to check your bulb connector type to select the bulb, otherwise, the bulb will not work.

The bulbs that perform for high and low beams refer to a dual beam type. They can be of H4, H13, 9004 and 9007 sizes.

The lights of H1, H3, H3C, H4, H7, H8, H9, H10, H11, H12, H13, H15*, 880, 881, 5202, 9004, 9005, 9006 and 9007 sizes can be single beam.
